Flexible Working Package for SMEs

This is a specially designed programme designed to help medium and small enterprises to benefit from flexible working practices at moderate cost.

This comprises an overall package of:


• Introductory seminar
• Guidance notes
• Preliminary analysis of organisational needs
• Team process for continuous realignment
• 2 x ½ days individual consultancy
• Email support
• Membership to the Swiftwork Forum

Introductory Seminar:
• Open format
• Potted history of Flexible Working
• The legislative back-drop
• Pros and Cons of flexible working
• Case Studies
• An introduction to the team process for flexible working
• Creating an Action Plan.

Guidance Notes:
• Modelled on several successfully implemented versions undertaken for DTI clients
• Contains guidelines for success
• Team Process overview
• Summary of key flexible working options
• Support information

Preliminary Analysis of Organisational Needs:
• A quick assessment of the gaps in the organisation’s approach to flexible working
• Introduced at the Seminar
• Completed and analysed prior to the consultation process.

Team Process for Continuous Realignment:
• A proven process implemented with all of our DTI clients
• Worked through “live” during consultation with a team
• Team Process instructions in Guidance Notes for team to use as necessary when circumstances change.

2 x ½ Days Individual Consultancy:
• To include Organisation Analysis feedback
• Explanation of the Team Process for flexible working
• Discussion of everyone’s role in making flexible working work
• Run “team process” session with one or more pilot teams
• Formalise support details
• Follow-up with pilot team(s).

Email Support:
• Each client is appointed a named Swiftwork consultant to contact about any flexible working issues.
• Swiftwork could also arrange to manage the ‘Right of Request’ process on behalf of the client.

Membership to the Swiftwork Forum:
• An informal group of clients, interested parties, industry experts and our own consultants who discuss any issues raised within the group
• A regular newsletter to keep everyone up to date with the current flexible working issues, legislation and solutions.
