Flexible working Training

Swiftwork is a leading specialist in new ways of working, including flexible working, mobile and homeworking. Since 1999, we have provided support and training to a wide range of public and private sector organisations.

This training equips both managers and employees with the skills and competencies necessary to work effectively together using new working patterns or as virtual teams. Managing flexible or remote teams requires a different set of competencies and behaviours from those used by managers in more traditional, totally office-based workplaces. Also, employees need to feel involved, consulted and networked in order to be motivated and to perform highly.

Our outcomes achieve positive benefits, which include improved performance, more efficient work processes, increased motivation and lower absenteeism.

Training Options

Swiftwork can provide four alternative training options:

  1. One-day interactive workshops for managers in groups of 8 to 16 plus a one-day training workshop/seminar for employees in groups of up to 30.
  2. Piloted tailored programme for managers and teams
  3. Two-day training programme for in-house trainers
  4. Online training courses for managers and homeworkers

  1. Workshops for managers and employees

    These one-day courses are designed to raise awareness of the issues and provide solutions to overcome any difficulties either managers or employees may have in adapting to remote workstyles. They include interactive exercises and our key guidelines, which provide a framework for effective homeworking.

    The following shows example workshop programmes but each would be tailored as appropriate for your organisation.
     
  2. Piloted, tailored programmes for managers and teams

    The one-day workshops for managers and for homeworkers have limitations in that, while they provide guidance, they cannot ensure that action is followed through, that consistency across the organisation is achieved and that there is significant culture change.

    The piloted programmes take the learning form the workshops a stage further by working with, and providing support to, the managers and teams over a trial period of, typically, three months. The programme can be run with one or more teams.
     
  3. Training for in-house trainers

    This is a two-day programme designed to equip your in-house trainers with the knowledge, skills and all materials to facilitate the managers' and employees' workshops.

    We take you through all the interactive exercises that we use in the workshops and training programmes and explain how and when to use them.

    We show you how to set up and run the pilot programme and establish measurements and monitoring systems. We provide you with all resources and materials you will require to run and manage the programme.
     
  4. Online Training

    Swiftwork has online training modules specifically developed for flexible workers and homeworkers and their managers. These modules would be an ideal backup to the face-to-face training and could also be used to introduce flexible or home working throughout the organisation once the pilots are complete or as a training programme for new managers or employees.
